Marketing for startups is how a young company communicates in a way that tests demand for its product and builds its brand among customers and investors. We offer it to founders before launch, startups with an MVP, companies that have raised a seed or Series A round, SaaS businesses and spin-offs: from a go-to-market workshop and branding, through an MVP app and a Webflow website, to the first test campaigns in Google Ads.
A startup has neither the time nor the budget for marketing that will work “someday.” You need fast tests and clear takeaways. We’re a creative agency based in Wrocław and Warsaw. We work with AI and no-code tools, so you can show customers the first version of your website or prototype before you spend your budget on the full product.

MARKET & CHALLENGES

What you’re up against as a startup

A startup competes not only with other young companies, but also with established players, global products and the fact that customers somehow “get by” without a new solution. Most Polish startups sell to businesses and usually have teams of up to 10 people, so the founder often handles marketing alone. Customers want to try the product in a demo, trial or pilot first, and only then pay.

No social proof

You don’t have reviews, client logos or case studies yet. Customers don’t want to risk buying from a company they know nothing about.

Costly paid acquisition

You pay for clicks that don’t end in a purchase, a sign-up or a call. Without measurement, you don’t know which channel brings in customers, and the budget melts away.

No one is searching yet

Customers don’t type your product’s name into Google because they don’t know it yet. First you have to name their problem, and only then show the solution.

First customers

You need your first customers to test the product and tell you what to fix. Without a network or a recognizable brand, it’s hard to get beyond your circle of friends.

A crowded category

Customers compare similar products in a few minutes. If they can’t see what makes you different, they pick a cheaper or better-known brand.

Invisible to AI chatbots

Customers ask ChatGPT or Gemini which product to choose. A young brand without descriptions, comparisons and mentions online doesn’t make it into the answers.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT

How marketing for startups differs

Five ways it differs from marketing in other industries:
01
Product-market fit first.
Without proven demand, a bigger ad budget just burns money faster.
02
Tests, not big launches.
What matters is the cost and speed of each message, channel and pricing test, not the size of a single campaign.
03
Two audiences.
The brand has to win over customers and investors, often in the same month and with the same materials.
04
A product in motion.
The offering, pricing and target audience change after every round of customer conversations. The messaging has to keep up.
05
The founder sells.
Early on, nobody sells better than the founder: their story, their network and their social media profiles.
That’s why we build startup marketing in stages: validation first, then the full brand and funnel, and scale last.
COMMUNICATION RULES

What works in startup communication

We do
build each landing page around one message and one call to action
measure cost per lead or sign-up before we increase the budget
base messaging on facts: customers, traction, pilot results
show the people behind the product and their experience
keep one visual identity across the website, ads and social media
We avoid
buzzwords like “revolutionary” and “AI-powered” without explaining the benefit
vanity metrics: reach and likes with no impact on sales
promises the product can’t keep yet
being everywhere at once instead of getting one channel right
copying the messaging of bigger competitors
These are our rules, not legal requirements. But keep in mind the ban on misleading advertising, the GDPR and email marketing consent (Article 398 of the Polish Electronic Communications Law, Prawo komunikacji elektronicznej). Fintech and healthtech have sector-specific rules. This is not legal advice.

Marketing for startups in practice

Case study · CRM implementation

Primescale

A new brand, from name to website
Primescale implements and develops CRM systems. We built its brand from scratch: at a strategy workshop, we worked out the name, mission, vision and tone of voice, and on that basis we designed the visual identity and website.
Challenge
From day one, the brand had to be ready for the B2B market: a distinct identity, a clear message and a website that helps generate leads.

FAQ

Common questions about marketing for startups

How do you start marketing a startup?
Start by clearly defining who has the problem you solve and how they deal with it today. Then talk to potential customers and check whether the problem matters to them. Only once you know who buys and why should you invest in a full brand and bigger campaigns. At the pre-seed stage, a go-to-market workshop, brand basics and a website or prototype for testing are usually enough.
How much does startup marketing cost?
The cost depends on your stage: validating an idea takes a small budget for a website and tests, while scaling after a funding round takes a permanent team and an ad budget. We price the workshop, branding, website and MVP as separate projects, so you can order them one at a time as your runway allows. We run campaigns on a monthly basis, and you pay ad spend directly to Google or Meta. We match the quote to your stage after a short call.
Does a startup need branding before product-market fit?
It needs the basics, but not a full brand book. A name, logo, colors and typography that look professional and are easy to build on are enough. Customers also judge a young company by how its website and sales materials look. It pays to build the full brand once you know who the product is for and how it beats the competition.
How do you test a startup idea before you build the product?
Test it with a prototype or a landing page that shows the product’s value, plus a small campaign aimed at your target audience. Measure sign-ups, conversations and willingness to pay, not just clicks. For quick web app prototypes, we use AI and no-code tools such as Lovable, so you don’t have to build the full product right away to test demand.
How do you build a go-to-market strategy?
A go-to-market strategy answers five questions: who you sell to, what problem you solve, how you win, at what price and through which channels you reach customers. The fastest way to build it is a workshop with the founding team, where we turn assumptions into a plan with a list of experiments. Then the first campaigns and sales calls validate the plan, and the lessons feed back into the strategy.
Which channel should you start with: LinkedIn, Google Ads or social media?
It depends on who you sell to and whether customers are already looking for a solution. Google Ads captures active demand, so it works when people type the name of their problem into a search engine. A founder’s LinkedIn profile builds credibility and opens conversations in B2B sales. Instagram, TikTok and Facebook tend to work better for consumer products. Start with one or two channels and get them right, then add more once they bring in customers.
How quickly does startup marketing show results?
A message test in Google Ads or on social media shows the first clicks and sign-ups after a few days. But to reach a conclusion you can base a decision on, you need enough conversions, and on a small budget that takes weeks. A brand, founder posts on LinkedIn and expert content take months, so early on they can’t replace testing. That’s why we start with quick tests and build the brand basics in parallel.
